Migration and Integration
The IBS works with the public sector and civil society associations at local, national, and international levels to better understand migration processes, the societal changes they bring, and the need to form corresponding policies. Two of our key research areas – migration and integration – focus on analyzing migration processes, assessing the impact of integration policies, and analyzing the socio-economic situation of immigrant populations in Estonia and Europe.
Our analyses have covered immigrants who arrived in Estonia during the Soviet Union, new immigrants who have arrived in Estonia since 2010, Estonian returnees, and Estonian diasporas abroad. In addition, we collect data and carry out analyses in the field of fundamental rights, acting as a partner for the European Union institutions, Estonian public authorities, and third sector organizations.
