Working Conditions in the Field of Hobby Education in Estonia

The mini-study, commissioned by the Ministry of Culture, focuses on analyzing the working conditions and motivation of hobby education workers in Estonia. The main goal of the study is to supplement data previously gathered by IBS on the working conditions and motivation of youth sector employees, providing a more detailed overview of the work content and organization, employee appreciation, and self-development opportunities for staff and leaders in hobby schools. A specific focus is placed on identifying the professional identity of staff and leaders, to explore how role definition affects professionalism in the field as well as employee motivation and satisfaction.

The results of the mini-study will be used as foundational material for the upcoming  culture sector study focused on hobby education, aimed at assessing the systematic nature and suitability of dance, art, and music education to different levels of the educational pathway. The ultimate goal is to identify the sustainability and strengths and weaknesses of continuity in hobby education for children and youth in different age groups, to support the development of the sector and better integration with general educational trends.
