Status of the Estonian Language
The Institute of Baltic Studies, in cooperation with the University of Tartu, is carrying out a survey “Status of the Estonian Language”, which is designed to determine the situation regarding the status, learning, research, and development of the Estonian language.
Specific objectives of the study are:
- to identify strengths and development needs in each field of research,
- to provide an overview of the status of Estonian and other languages,
- analyse development trends and problems of the last 15 years.
The final report of the study will be completed in April 2017 and it will serve as an important input for the new Estonian language strategy for 2018-2024.
