Johanna Maarja Tiik

Analyst



Johanna Maarja is an analyst specializing in green, climate, and energy topics.

Before joining the Institute of Baltic Studies, she worked at the Ministry of Climate, focusing on the EU Green Deal and climate policy. Prior to that, she was a climate policy expert at the Estonian Fund for Nature and an analyst at the renewable energy consultancy Eclareon in Berlin.

She holds a master’s degree in international relations from Central European University, during which she also completed a one-term internship in New York. Since fall 2024, she has been pursuing a second master’s degree in industrial ecology at TalTech.

In her free time, Johanna enjoys spending time with family and friends, visiting new places (especially islands), hiking, and cycling. In addition to climate and environmental issues, she has a strong interest in policy analysis and security topics.
