Kirill Jurkov

Analyst

Kirill is an analyst at the Institute of Baltic Studies (IBS). He has been connected to IBS since 2021, starting out as an intern during his bachelor’s studies. As an analyst, he has contributed to research on impact assessment, integration, and economic topics, primarily working with quantitative datasets.

Kirill earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in politics and governance from the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies at the University of Tartu. His research focused on voting behavior, specifically examining factors influencing voting method preferences in the eras of COVID-19 and social media. As part of his studies, he developed several predictive models for voting method selection, which further deepened his passion for statistical modeling — something that he also brings to his professional work.

Outside of IBS, Kirill’s greatest passion is football, which has been a major part of his life for years. He also enjoys spending time in nature and hiking, engaging in discussions on social issues with friends, and learning new skills.
