Marek Tiits is the founder and chairman of the board of the Institute of Baltic Studies. He applies data science methods to analyze global trade, foreign investment, and industrial dynamics. Based on his research, he advises businesses and governments on export-driven economic development strategies.
Marek holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in public administration. In 2011, he completed his PhD at Tallinn University of Technology. Over the past 25 years, he has worked as an expert and advisor both in Estonia and internationally, including for the Prime Minister of Estonia, the European Commission, and UNCTAD. He has extensive experience with European research programmes and international cooperation.
In his free time, Marek reads, travels, and enjoys photography.
