Mele has worked as an Analyst at the Institute of Baltic Studies since 2022. She is an expert on Latin American culture and politics, with a broader interest in culture, politics, media and communication. For many years, Mele worked as a journalist for the cultural addition Areen in the Eesti Ekspress. She has been a columnist for Sirp and a freelance journalist in Estonia and Berlin. He has taught political science, international relations and Latin American cultural history at TalTech, Tallinn University and Saaremaa Gymnasium. Mele is originally from Saaremaa.
Mele has studied journalism at the University of Tartu, furthered her education in Lisbon and São Paulo, and received her PhD in Cultural Studies from Tallinn University, where she wrote her dissertation on a Brazilian cultural model.
