Rene Tõnnisson is a Member of the Board of the Institute of Baltic Studies and is responsible for developing the think tank’s international cooperation. In addition, he is a member of the Baltic Innovation Agency (BIA) board and has previously held the same role at Tartu Science Park, Tartu Biotechnology Park, and Connect Estonia. In addition, Rene is a member of several advisory boards to the European Commission, such as the European Cluster Policy Expert Group and the Expert Group on Regional Aspects of the 7th Framework Programme. His main research interests include innovation and knowledge management, technology transfer, cluster development and foresight. Since 1996, Rene has taught several courses related to the European Union institutions and policies at the University of Tartu.
